I was very hesitant to release this song because it could easily seem like a “sell out” type of moment. The reality is that this song came from a very different place. For my family and I the 2019 Holidays were a very tough time. Illness both mental and physical made it a painful experience. Around the second week in January, my wife and I talked about how much this season felt awful and we found ourselves saying “I really hated Christmas this year.” The next day it struck me that I rejected that idea. I love the holiday season and, like so many songs, I wrote as form of therapy. I wrote a love letter to something that holds so many wonderful memories. It’s not a cynical moment, but rather a hopeful one. Hopefully you can forgive me for my self-indulgence.
